How to choose Preschool for your kids?

Preschool is the second home that the child has. Choosing a preschool is cumbersome process. For parents it is a tedious task, people usually do not scrutinize the nitty-gritty of the school. People , usually, do not give much importance to the preschool, they have this perception that the sole purpose of  sending their  children to preschool is   to make their children engaged in something, whereas one of the quite significant purposes of  Preschooling is SCHOOL READINESS.

 

To prepare the children for school and a smooth transition from preschool to KG the child should get developmentally appropriate and inclusive ambiance. Preschooling is a critical phase because early years act as a bedrock for later years for the children.

 

Choosing  a preschool for children is a process of paramount importance. A lot of factors should be taken into consideration while choosing a preschool.

Following are the factors that one should keep in mind while selecting a preschool :

1. Distance-  Distance is the utmost important  concern for majority  of the parents albeit  others just ignore it blatantly. A preschool should be located near the child's house because in the case of emergency   it will be feasible for the child's parents to reach the school.
2. Facilities- When we say that an ideal  preschool should have all the necessary facilities , we don't only refer to provision for pick and drop and mid-day meal, we refer to the environment wholly. Facilities should include  availability of  doctor or certified nurse in the school premise till the children leave the school arena ,and the classrooms and the play area should be children friendly i.e. no hazardous items should be present there.The atmosphere of the class should be stimulating that is colourful charts should be hung on walls, the set up of the class should be vibrant and eye catching for the children.
3. Certified- Certification is imperative because Certification or affiliation give  schools a recognition and  ensures a basic level of quality in the education and code of conduct. A lot of people don't pay heed to Preschools' accreditation because they don't consider it necessary or important but the truth is other way around. Pre-school accreditation is as important as other institutions' accreditation. There are not plethora of organizations that provide accreditation based on US standards to preschools to India, one of the very few organizations is QUALITYKG.
4. Certified Teacher- The teacher plays a poignant role in children's life. Being a teacher is not a role, it is indeed a prestigious duty. Influence of teachers on the kids is enormous, children are impressionable. The teacher should be fully acquainted as how she/he should carry the class. she should not come off as novice person, she should adhere to the basic teaching standards.There are many traits that a teacher should posses, such as she should be a good listener, polite, prejudice free and patient. Last but not the least the teacher should be well experienced and she should hold the required academic qualifications from well recognized institutes.
5. Outdoor Activities- Play and learning go hand in hand and there have been many researches which exhibit that  play and learning are intertwined. A child can learn from play-way methods, the teacher should know how to inculcate play with education.There should be spacious outdoor area in the school for children to move and run, outdoor activities should be a part of children's curriculum.
